The Delaware Law School at Widener University Started a New Paralegal Certificate Program

College graduates and students in southern Pennsylvania and northern Delaware now have the option to earn a variety of paralegal certificates from the new program at Widener University’s Delaware Law School located in Wilmington, Delaware.

With highly trained paralegals performing tasks that were previously relegated to lawyers in many firms, the time is right to provide a new paralegal certificate program in the Mid-Atlantic area.

Attorneys and experienced professionals teach the classes at the Legal Education Institute (LEI). Although the program accepts college graduates, it primarily focuses on students who have earned 60 credits.

The program offers blended study between online, day, and evening classes. However, you must take at least 10 semester credits in a traditional class format.

The LEI offers the 24-credit program over the course of a summer. You can obtain your American Bar Association-approved certificate in 15 weeks. You also have the option of completing the program over the course of two traditional semesters. This will take about nine months.

This program offers a variety of specialties in areas in demand such as:

  • Corporate law
  • Criminal law
  • Estate administration law
  • Health law
  • Intellectual property law
  • Litigation

Legal Nurse Consultant Certificate

In addition to the variety of paralegal specialties, you can also earn a Legal Nurse Consultant (LNC) certificate. Attorneys directly supervise LNCs.

One of the goals of this certificate includes being trained in deductive reasoning skills. This will enable you to prepare chronologies of medical events along with the ability to organize and review medical records.

If you obtain this training, you can work in a variety of companies ranging from pharmaceutical and insurance companies to law firms. You can also find employment at government agencies.

The LEI also offers you the opportunity to concentration in forensics—an area in extremely high demand.
